PENTAGRAM - Živimo ludim životom
05.10.2016. | |

Bobby:

Greg Turley:
A tu su i elektronika, gavran i ono što on predstavlja. Omot je izuzetno zabavan za analiziranje.
Bobby:
A kada držite taj omot u ruci, i kada ga pogledate u velikom formatu možete bolje videti šta se tu krije.

Greg:
Veoma smo zadovoljni.
Tako da smo u suštini svirali sve pesme sa albuma uživo u nekom trenutku, osim "Because I Made It". Samo ta činjenica govori o tome koliko vere imamo u album.
Bobby:

PENTAGRAM - It's a Crazy Life
05.10.2016. | |

American heavy metal pioneers PENTAGRAM were founded back in 1971 and have a long list of accomplishments under their belt, including eight records. As a part of the tour promoting their latest release "Curious Volumes" Pentagram are set to visit Croatia, performing on October 6th at the Vintage Industrial Bar. We spoke to frontman Bobby Liebling and bass player Greg Turley in light of that show about the new album, the controversy that surrounded the band and their upcoming performance.

Pentagram is considered as one of the pioneers of heavy metal genre. Have you ever felt any pressure because of that? Do you feel your work is under the spotlight, and the expectations are always very high?

Bobby Liebling: Expectations are always high because you keep your standards up. You have to reach the goals you set for yourself and you set the bar higher.

How hard is to get through departures and even death of band members, and keep focus in music?

Bobby: I never thought and I don’t like to think about death of band members. When people that you love are gone is just like with anything else in life. When you lose loved ones, it hurts. You can’t ponder that.

Do you feel changes were responsible for the evolution of the band, or it would happen regardless of who is in the band?

Bobby: Err… (laughs)

Pentagram

Your logo is one of the most iconic in the rock and roll world, but I guess it raised a few eyebrows in the past. Did you ever have any problems because of your name and visualizations?

Bobby: Yes, but that doesn’t affect us now. It’s all a part of rock n roll. The whole sport we’ve gotten into here is pretty wild. It’s a crazy life.

How hard is to be controversial nowadays, or do you think the world has changed so much that nothing is a taboo anymore?

Bobby: We try to keep it alive. There is a message in there, but it’s just Rock n Roll.

Speaking of visualizations, I love the artwork for the "Curious Volume". Can you tell me more about it, and what it represents?

Greg Turley: It’s subjective, depending on how you look at it. It could be "volume" as volume, or "volume" as the next record. It’s curios either way.

Bobby: You can’t get too deep on curiosity either. Curiosity killed the cat (laughs).

Greg: To me it’s a fun thing, because there’s a lot to look at. If you look at the album you can see the lyrics, the dates, certain things in the background. The electronics, the raven and what it represents. It’s a fun cover to look at and pick apart.

Bobby: Also, the vinyl has helped a lot, because the vinyl came back. And the cover is something you hold in your hand, and when you look at the larger cover you can see what’s going on better. So you can ponder longer.

Pentagram

It’s been a year since "Curious Volume" was released. Are you happy with it from this time distance? Are you happy with the reactions from fans and media?

Greg: We’re all very pleased. I just listened to it again in the car weeks ago, and I was almost afraid to put it in. But I listened to the whole album, from the beginning to the end, and I like it.

Bobby: We really did a good job, we’re proud of ourselves.

Greg: It’s straightforward, just heavy rock. It’s not trying to be this thing or the other thing.

Bobby: There are no deep secrets or anything like that. We laid it all on the line on this record. You can’t take back what you put on the record, so you better enjoy it.

Greg: We currently have five or six songs in the set from the new album, and played others like "Earth Flight", "Lay Down and Die", they have been in the set before. So we’ve essentially played every song from the album live at certain point, expect "Because I Made It". That alone says the confidence we have in the album.

Bobby: We purposely made the album more stripped down than the previous albums, so we would be able to reproduce them more authentically live.

On this tour, you will visit Zagreb and Croatia. What do you expect from the show in Vintage Industrial Bar, and what can the crowd expect from you?

Greg: We don’t know what to expect, because we’ve never been there.

Bobby: We expect Croatians (laughs)…

Greg: We hope a lot of Croatian fans come out, come out early and stay to talk.

Bobby: …and to look at all the pretty girls.

Do you have any message for fans coming to the show?

Greg: Looking forward to meeting you in Croatia!

Bobby: And we’re looking forward to visiting more places.
